Digital DNA Futures competition inspiring the next generation of tech innovators

Digital DNA and Sentinus are proud to announce the continuation of the Digital Futures programme, aimed at inspiring and empowering the next generation of digital talent in Northern Ireland. The programme is also being supported by PWC Northern Ireland and Synechron.

The Digital DNA Futures programme has been running since 2015 and has engaged with over 4,000 young people across Northern Ireland. The programme aims to inspire young people about the world of technology, deepen their understanding of its role in our lives, and highlight its importance in the growth and development of businesses.

Working in partnership with Sentinus, the Digital DNA Futures programme has engaged over 600 year 9 pupils over a five-month period. The programme will culminate in a grand final pitching competition at Digital DNA Belfast on Wednesday 7th June 2023.

“We are delighted to be working with Sentinus, PWC Northern Ireland, and Synechron to deliver the Digital Futures programme,” said Simon Bailie, CEO of Digital DNA. “We believe that it is vital to engage with young people and inspire them to consider careers in the digital industry. By providing opportunities for learning and practical experience, we hope to support and develop the next generation of digital leaders in Northern Ireland.”

Bill Connor MBE, CEO of Sentinus also commented that “The Digital DNA Futures programme is a highlight for many schools and it’s great to see it back after a 2 year break due to Covid. Providing our next generation with an insight to the fast paced tech sector is vital and with the generous support from our industry partners and mentors, we know this programme will make a difference to our next generation of tech innovators.”

The semi-finals are taking place today, Thursday 4th May at PwC’s Merchant Square offices in Belfast, where six finalists will be chosen to compete at the grand final.

The six finalists will compete at the grand final, which will take place at St Georges Market in Belfast on 7th June. The competition will showcase the creativity and innovation of young people and will demonstrate the importance of technology in shaping our future.
