Digital DNA are proud to partner with ‘Other Voices’ to bring their incredible vision to life – a televised cultural experience using digital to celebrate Belfast as a thriving, smart and creative tech city.


Building up to the main ‘Other Voices’ event will be the Digital DNA ‘Creative Quarter’ – 4 events engaging and empowering local community groups across Belfast on Thursday 26th & Friday 27th October 2017.

This event is a creative collaboration, involving music and tech based in North Belfast, engaging communities across Belfast and demonstrates our joint commitment to celebrate the best of our city – its distinct culture, creativity and inspiring story. This initiative is supported by Belfast City Council and the Department for Foreign Affairs & Trade.

26th Oct | Creating a Safe Space Online


10:00 – 12:30 | Intercomm

Who should attend?
Local community groups/organisations

Capacity: 40 people

Speaker: Wayne Denner

A workshop of how to be safe online – especially in regards to reputation and well being.

26th Oct | Creating Change – Tech for Transforming Your Community


2pm – 4:30pm | Girdwood Community Hub

Who should attend?
Local community groups, especially ones working on regeneration.

Capacity: 50 people

Speaker: Connor Doherty (Techies in Residence / CultureTech), Global Shapers Belfast

Connor Doherty will host a ‘Hack-athon’ to engage with community groups to tackle a local issue. First we will work to understand how to articulate the problem and then work with tech entrepreneurs (from Global Shapers) to work on solutions. The aim of this event is to demonstrate how collaboration with digital enterprise can empower individuals to regenerate their communities.

27th Oct | Creating an Entrepreneurial Culture


10:00 – 12:30 | Denmark Street Community Centre

Who should attend?
Youth groups/organisations

Capacity: 50 people

Speaker: Young Enterprise, Invest NI (Music Business Support)

Young Enterprise will host an interactive session with Entrepreneurs and challenge participants to think about how they might host a music festival.

Invest NI Music Business Support will host a panel discussion including entrepreneurs from the music industry (such as DJ/music studio etc). Inspiring young people to be entrepreneurs – the opportunities of the tech/digital sector, especially within the music / arts sector to tie in with Other Voices.

This event will contribute to promoting entrepreneurs, economic growth and building a knowledge economy.

27th Oct | Creating a New Vision – the Creative Industries


13:30 – 16:00 | Houben Centre

Who should attend?
Aimed at young people 16-18.

Capacity: 60 people

Speakers: Twitter, Catalyst Inc – Connect

A speaker from Twitter with explore the opportunities of the social media industry. Connect at Catalyst Inc will deliver a session to include 2 videos – discussing the 4th Industrial Revolution and Generation Innovation. They will also host a panel discussion and Q&A with a couple of young entrepreneurs in the area of Digital. This event will explore the huge careers opportunity within the creative industries in Belfast.
